Lex Ishimoto, hailing from Irvine, California, began dancing at 7 and started his career performing on the national tour as “Billy” in Billy Elliot The Musical by 11. Lex became the grand finalist at The Spotlight Awards in 2015 and earned the title “Teen Male Best Dancer” at The Dance Awards, as well as being titled “Elite Protege” on The Pulse on Tour 2014, touring all over the United States and internationally. Later on prized with the “Youth American Grand Prix Award” at the 2015 YAGP Los Angeles regionals and placed as a finalist at the National YoungArts Foundation in 2016.
He moved and trained at Boston Ballet under the direction of Mikko Nissinen. Following, he joined Travis Wall’s Shaping Sound company. In 2017, he was crowned “America’s Favorite Dancer” on So You Think You Can Dance season 14, as well as appearing as an All-Star for the 15th season. Lex can be seen in music videos such as Sia’s “The Greatest,” Judith Hill’s “The Pepper Club,” BeBe Rexha’s “I’m a Mess,” and more. Having heavy influence from the underground/urban hip hop scene, classical ballet, concert dance, and commercial world, Lex strives to be a dominant force in the dance world refusing to be labeled in a special genre. With his self-made slogan/brand “STAYLEGENDARY’ Lex continues to push boundaries to be acknowledged as an unforgettable artist of his generation, and also to inspire those around him to do the same in the highest level possible.
